FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The following age limits apply for each distance at the Sandy Point Half Marathon:
If you register for the event before11:59pm 12, August 2021 your first name will be printed on your race bib.
Children under four years of age are not required to pay the entry fee, however for safety and insurance reasons you will be required to provide details in the registration process.

You don’t have to notify Sole Motive (the organiser) if you are unable to run for any reason. However, there are no refunds for non-starters or non-finishers.
We do offer the following:
1. Withdrawal from the event: Withdrawals receive a credit note if they are made before 5:00pm, Friday 27th August 2021.After this date, no credit notes will be issued. Credit notes are valid for 1 year from the date of issuing and valid for Sole Motive owned events and cannot be used for contracted events. Refunds will not be issued. When an entrant registers, they agree to the below terms and conditions;
T&C #15. I agree that there are no refunds, however, I may request a credit note for other SM owned events (minus $10 for admin fees) no later than 5pm, one month prior to the event. After this date, no credit notes will be issued. Credit notes will not be issued when downgrading distances. Credit notes will be valid for SM owned events and cannot be used for contracted events. Credit notes are valid for 1 year from the date of issuing.
2. Downgrade from your race: Event downgrades can be made online up until Friday, 3rd September 2021. Use thislink.Refunds/credit notes cannot be issued for the difference in entry fee (if any) when downgrading your distance.
Please note: Any changes to your registration (name, distance, postage) will incur a $10 administration fee.
At this stage there will be no entries taken on the day of the event.
Online entries will remain open until 11:59pm, 3 September 2021. Onsite entries will be available on Saturday 4 September from 12 noon to 3pm and Sunday 5 September from 6am.
Public and portable toilets are located at the Event Village as well as a first aid post.Please refer to relevant distance page for on course toilet and drink station locations.
We strongly discourage the use of headphones on the course. If you do choose to use headphones while running, please ensure that you are still able to hear what is happening around you.
No personal support riders or bike riders within the vicinity of runners are permitted on course. It is the responsibility of each athlete while running to ensure that no bikes are on the course near the runners. Any transgression will result in disqualification from the event.
Prams are permitted in all events – please start at the back of your wave for safety reasons.
All animals are strictly prohibited from entering any part of the course at any time. However, we welcome dogs on leads in the event village.
Racing Wheelchair:If you are a racing wheelchair please contact email@example.com to secure your spot. The racing wheelchair wave will start approximately 5 minutes before each distance.
Non Racing Wheelchair:Sole Motive accommodates wheelchairs in our event. If you’re not a Racing Wheelchair Athlete, please start at the back of the final wave in your event.
There are three options to collect your race kit:
Option 1 – Postage: If you wish to have your race pack posted to you, you must register before 11:59pm, 19 August 2021. Please note, a delivery fee of $8.95 applies.
Option 2 – Pickup from Sole Motive Retail 170 Queens St Melbourne:
If you wish to “collect from the Sole Motive store”, race packs will be available for collection from 12:00pm, 27 August 2021 until 5pm 2 September 2021.
Option 3 – Pickup at the event site:
You can collect your Race Pack at the event site on Saturday 4 September 12 noon-3:00pm OR Sunday 5 September from 6:00am.
For the purpose of Race Bib collection, please make sure you bring your e-ticket with your Race Bib number on it.
The nearest train station to the event site is Brighton Beach (on the Sandringham line) and is just a short 3-minute walk to the event site. Please refer to Public Transport Victoria for further details and to plan your route. Given it is a Sunday and the event is early please be aware there is minimal services available.
Car parking is available in the side streets of Beach Road and in the Green Point, Brighton car park.Plenty of parking is also available at Dendy St. Access to the side streets of Beach Road and the Green Point, Brighton car park is only available from the North end of Beach Road (the city end). Car Park fees apply and are approximately $13. Please park legally and be aware of parking restrictions in the area.
Sole Motive will provide plenty of bike parking at the event site. Please make sure to bring your own lock to ensure your bike is secure.
Road closures will be announced closer to the race week.
Bag drop is available at the event village. Please do not leave valuables in your bag. Sole Motive accepts no responsibility for lost or stolen items. Attach the tear-off strip on the bottom of your race bib to your bag. Keep your race bib so that you can collect your bag post-event.
Please note: this year we’re cutting down on single-use plastics and will not be providing plastic bags to put belongings in at the Bag Drop Marquee. Please remember to bring your own bag to the event.
Yes, placegetters will be awarded based on gun time rather the adjusted time for each run (net time). If any runner wants to place in this event, they must start in the first wave. Trophies will be presents to participants post-race. Approximately 30mins after the winner of each distance finishes.
All runners in the Half-Marathon, the 10k and 5k races will be timed. If you wish to receive a finishing time all participants must wear their RACE BIB. Your Race Bib contains a disposable timing chip, if you don’t wear your bib, you won’t receive an official time.
Please wear your race bib on the front of your top and ensure it is visible.
Live results will be available online from TBC.
Participants who have nominated to receive SMS results and have paid an additional $2 will receive their results SMS on the evening of the event, and finishers will receive a certificate via email.
Net time is the time the participant crosses the start line until they cross the finish line. This is how results are displayed on the website, and will be used to award aged category places. These times are for participant information only and are not used to determine place getters. Placegetters are determined by gun time – the first three male and females across the finish line.
Where possible, the event will be rescheduled. If this happens, all registered athletes will be automatically transferred to the new event date.
We will provide as much notice as we can. If the new date doesn’t work for you, we will provide other options such as an Event Credit, which can be used toward any Sole Motive event.
Any affected participants will be offered an Event Credit to the value of their entry (including additional purchases).
